Geoffrey N. Shorts is the Manager of Components Manufacturing Engineering at Central Moloney Inc. He has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Valparaiso University and is currently an Engineer in Training.
Since 1949, Central Moloney, Inc. has been supplying electric distribution transformers to power utilities in the Western Hemisphere from its Pine Bluff manufacturing plant and headquarters. In 1970, the company launched a second operation nearby to produce components for its own transformer manufacturing as well as most of its competitors. As an employee-owned corporation, Central Moloney nimbly innovates new solutions to emerging market challenges without the need to wait for bureaucratic wheels to turn. This agility facilitated the acquisition of two 3D printers that enable designers to develop and demonstrate new products for their customers, reflecting Central Moloney’s commitment to its vision of leading the transformer industry with high-quality products and stellar customer service.
Throughout his career with Central Moloney, Geoff has focused on continuous improvement initiatives at the company’s Components Operation. With that focus, he has provided the impetus for significant changes to key manufacturing processes, including deployment of 3D printing as an effective design and marketing tool. As a committed innovator, he is a member of the corporate leadership team that seeks to improve the company’s performance, including the Governor’s Award for Performance Excellence.
Geoff is currently responsible for researching and implementing new processes and equipment to secure Central Moloney’s position at the forefront of innovation and technology in the electric distribution transformer industry.
